B2U Storage Solutions has commissioned it’s second so called hybrid facility, a combination of solar and energy storage systems, in Cuyama, California. The 12 MWh ESS is using batteries from Honda Clarity, the Japanese car maker’s second EV in the US.

This is the B2U Storage Solutions second hybrid system, a solar park combined with ESS enabling the extended dispatch of power to the grid. The first system, in Lancaster, California, has a capacity of 28 MWh using 1,300 EV battery packs from different automotive manufacturers including Nissan, Chevrolet, Ford and Tesla, making it the largest second life system in the world.

Between 2017 and 2019 Honda leased 2,790 Clarity BEV and 36,600 Clarity PHEV, initially on 3 years agreements to customers in California and Oregon. The BEV has a 25.5kWh battery while the PHEV use a 17kWh battery.
