Cirba Solutions to construct material recovery plant in Arizona

Heritage Battery Recycling, part of Cirba Solutions, will construct a battery recycling facility in Eloy, Arizona in the United States. The 75,000 square feet plant will produce enough battery material to support 50,000 EVs annually which is equivalent to 15,000-20,000 tonnes of infeed scrap batteries. The plant is set to be operational in mid 2023.

Cirba Solutions which is the combined entity of Heritage Battery Recycling, Retriev and the acquired battery collector and recycler Battery Solutions has today pre-processing plants in Trail, British Colombia and Lancaster, Ohio. Through Battery Solutions the company is also operating sorting and consolidation in Wixom, Michigan and in Mesa, Arizona, not far from the new site.

The new plant will be one of the larger plants that are planned to go online in 2023 which totally will change the North American processing landscape. Recycling startup Li-Cycle is about to commission their plant in Rochester, NY also in mid 2023 and Ascend Elements plans to open a combined material recovery and precursor plant in Hopkinsville, Kentucky in late 2023. In Nevada is Redwood constructing a combined recycling and material production site and ABTC is about to commission what the company call a pre-commercial recycling plant.

Currently the only downstream solutions after pre-processing is Glencore's smelting operations in Sudbury, Ontario from which the material later is finally processed in Norway.

Recently Cirba Solutions announced it is forming a joint venture with the cathode mateiral company 6K Inc.
