DHL Supply Chain and Cox Automotive have joined forces to provide "in-life EV battery services" in the UK. The partnership includes the launch of a 35,000-square-foot EV battery service center in Rugby, which will be integrated into DHL’s existing EV Centre of Excellence. This facility will provide battery repair, storage, logistics, and remanufacturing services, handling thousands of batteries annually.

Cox Automotive's business in remanufacturing and in-life battery services originates from its acquisition of Spiers New Technologies which was a pioneer in both remanufacturing and repurposing of EV batteries. The company have facilities in Oklahoma City, Las Vegas and Detroit.

In addition to the new center, DHL has invested £800,000 in an EV battery energy storage system that will allow the full discharge of batteries, recycling energy back into the service center to support EV remanufacturing.
