Fortum opens German pre-processing plant

The Finnish energy company Fortum which is about to start a hydrometallurgical recycling plant in Finland will open a German plant for dismantling and pre-processing of EV batteries in Baden-Wurttenberg. Operations is about to start late 2022 with the aim to process batteries from continental Europe for material recovery in Finland.

Fortum operates today a pre-processing plant in Finland with a capacity of 3,000 tonnes. The company has not shared information about capacity in the German plant.
