companies including Toshiba, Toyota Motor, Panasonic and Fujitsu has formed a project around Batteries as a service with the aim to create a market for used batteries. The project came out of the Japanese Battery Association for Supply Chain (BASC).
The group will study the possibilities of creating a market for batteries with transparent pricing and how such a market also can be used to optimize recycling of batteries. The project will firstly cover EV batteries but later also batteries from maritime applications, robots and other applications
The goal is also to review current regulations around reuse and recycling with the Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry in Japan.
