Smartville bags additional grant funding for second life battery system

The second life battery specialist Smartville has received $2.65M in federal and state funding for further development of the their stationary energy storage system based on used EV batteries.


Smartville, which is a spin off from UC San Diego has deployed systems based several different types of EV batteries including Tesla Model 3, the most common end-of-life battery pack in the US.


The funding follows a previous grant funding of $5.9M from US Department of Energy in spring 2023.
