Batteryloop delivers first ESS with fork lift batteries from Toyota

BatteryLoop has delivered a 155 kW energy storage system for use at its mother company's office. The system which will be connected to 55 electric vehicles chargers are made up 800 150 Ah modules from Toyota Material Handling which have previously been used in fork lifts.

The main service for the ESS will be to deliver peak shaving (and presumably some demand reduction) for the EV chargers but it will also be used for frequency regulation with capacity sold to Svenska Kraftnät in Sweden.

The ESS is the first project using fork lift batteries, a category which in many markets is expected to reach end of life faster than electric cars due to its vast utilization.
