New recycling process for LFP batteries commissioned by EV-maker Kyburz

The Switzerland-based maker of low speed electric vehicles, Kyburz, has announced that they developed and will use a technology for recycling of LFP batteries.


In the process the batteries are mechanically disintegrated with the cathode and anode separated as entire components. The company claims they can separate the active materials from the current collectors using primarily water although it is not clear how this industrialized.


Kyburz who use the LFP batteries in their vehicles was also early in the second life field reusing batteries used in vehicles by the Swiss Post in ESS solutions.
