B2U Storage Solutions, a startup affiliated with Solar Electric Solutions (SES) in Santa Monica, California has commissioned 1.2 MWh battery storage system with plans to expand up to 17 MWh. The system is co-located with a solar farm operated by SES in Lancaster, CA and is using second life Nissan Leaf batteries. The combined system will deliver firm capacity of up to 8.5 megawatts (MW) of 100% renewable energy, along with other grid services, to the wholesale market
When fully built out the project will use the equivalent of at least 2,000 Nissan LEAF battery packs.
B2U Storage Solutions was recently added to the list of Reuse companies and the system is added in the 2020 second life pipeline in Market and the In reuse section in Volumes.
