The UK-based startup Monolith which has developed an AI-based system for the detection of anomalies in EV batteries has has been chosen by NIO to use the software to makes test of the car maker's swap batteries in Europe more efficient. By using Monolith's software tests that in other cases would take hours can be done in seconds.
While the deal is an important deal for Monolith which in addition to automatic inspection of test data offers advanced algorithms to reduce the amount of physical testing time and simulations required in the design of batteries, it is also a good example of the benefits of battery swapping where the model can increase both safety, battery quality as well as future end-of-life possibilities.
