Alicante-based repair, repurposing and recycling specialist GDV has delivered its first ESS based on used second life batteries in a containerised system used in the port of Alicante. The system is one of three planned systems which will store energy generated from a 1 MW solar plant.

GDV which has grown fast as one of the leading repair and repurposing companies in Europe is mainly focused on e-bike and scooter and if we understsand correctly this system is made from 500 14W batteries with a total capacity of 180 kWh. Although small it's an interesting case as repurposing of scooter and e-bike batteries has big potential but has been difficult to scale.
